Orlando, FL
A recent ProStage experience arrived
this year arrived upon a show confirming at
the Omni Orlando Resort at Champions Gate.
The
Omni Resort at Champions Gate is a magnificent
new resort that is extremely accommodating
to production companies and attendees. Our
client decided to go with International
Ballroom Salon’s 2 and 3 (20’ high ceilings 121’ x 106’).
These are very spacious rooms however the
staging, scenic and equipment plans were
specified on a Grand Scale with an attendance
size of 300. Keeping in mind that a backstage
area was still needed to house the backstage
technicians, cases, scaffolding for projectors
and numerous items that we love to mask
with pipe and drape.
The ProStage team put their heads together. The
room was drawn to scale in AutoCAD and audience
chairs were placed in several different
variations to fit in the room. The decision
made to theater style seating and there
still was not enough room to hold the attendees.
The room was adjusted with pushing the stage
back further, it lessened the backstage
room, but we were now able accommodate the
seating needed. The original spec’s of the
backstage lighting resting on scaffolding
was changed to hanging from crank lighting
trees. This gave us less of a foot print
and more room to work with.
The final touch was added by using our “Rolling Accent” Set. This brought in the powerful presence of a “Big Show” look. The “Rolling Accent” set
pieces are curved to draw attention to the center of the stage. Once the set
pieces were carefully lit, it added a light shadow on the backdrop and created
a longer depth of field. This ProStage design allowed set pieces in a small
room setting to appear much larger than life. So it is possible to do a large
look in a warm small setting.
